This month presentation is on Composition.
Good photographic composition is all about guiding the viewer’s eye and creating images with impact. Techniques such as the rule of thirds, leading lines, and effective framing help give structure to a photograph and make it feel balanced and intentional. Even small adjustments—like shifting your position to include a foreground element or simplifying a busy background—can dramatically improve the visual flow of an image.
Equally important is understanding how light, colour, and perspective contribute to the overall story you want to tell. Soft natural light can create a calm atmosphere, while bold contrasts or unusual angles can add drama and energy. By being mindful of these elements and taking a moment to compose before pressing the shutter, photographers of any level can produce images that feel more engaging, professional, and expressive.
